Long time no see..

Due to sheer business I haven't been able to post over the last month or so, lots of stuff has  happened - mainly Macs misbehaving, I have also had to write a report about the Mac provision for the new building.

Since my last posting, three of my students have started blogs of their own, I have linked to their pages and follow them to see how they are getting on. I think they see the value of it as an online journal, hopefully they will keep it up and use it as they do their 'brain' (a resource folder/diary that they do for their contextual studies.).

• trepidation when receiving my envelope - what do people think of me?
• how would people react to my comments - would they know it is me commenting?

Publicity

Here's a poster that I knocked together to publicise the blog:

I'm going to put A3/A2(?) posters up in the Mac suites to publicise the blog, along with A6 flyers to give to the students.

Blog Questionnaire

Been away in Newcastle for the last few days of this half term with no internet access.

Had loads of ideas including - a. Creating a feedback mechanism and b. How to Publicise the blog. So I'm developing a questionnaire that I will get my students to fill in as part of a tutorial on how to post replies to blogs. Two birds with one stone.

I need to start padding out the blog with references/resources so there is something there when they arrive!

BBC News - Education - Academics give lessons on blogs

I've just found this article on the BBC:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/4194669.stm

A Blog about a Blog...

I've set this area up as a resource for my Action Research Project, part of my Postgraduate Certificate of Education.

I am proposing to create a blog site to provide technical/practical support to my students.

Here is a link to my peliminary mindmap (PDF format)

http://public.me.com/marion_tregartha

Click on the PGCE folder, then click on the MTregartha-Action-Research.pdf file

I'm using it primarily to collect links and resources which should prove useful come the time I have to write my report - think of it as an online bibliography.

I'm going to focus on blogging in UK Education, and specifically the visual arts.

Please feel free to leave comments!
